Pamela Schwarzer, PT
Pamela Schwarzer is the owner and a practicing physical therapist at Corinthian Physical Therapy, which she founded in 1990.
Pam’s practice includes treating a comprehensive range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. She is often sought out to treat patients that have struggled with pain and dysfunction for years, many of whom had previously received numerous other treatments before coming to her.
She earned her degree in Physical Therapy from New York University in 1983, and has more than 30 years of extensive advanced training that integrates manual therapy and osteopathic techniques. She has advanced training from leading institutions in the country including the Osteopathic School at Michigan State University, The Hospital for Special Surgery, David Butler, Brian Mulligan, The Upledger Institute and at the Institute of Physical Arts.
Pam was the head supervisor at the Hospital for Special Surgery’s outpatient physical therapy department. As one of the pioneers that coordinated and expanded HSS’ Back Treatment and Learning Center, one of the first hospital-based centers focusing on integrating patient education and involvement in the treatment of back pain, she introduced to the department some of the most progressive manual therapy techniques in the treatment of cervical and lumbar pain.
Pam prides herself on having opened one of the first one on one, hourly, manual therapy practices in New York City. Because of her passion and positive energy she takes the time to evaluate each patient as a “whole” in order to address complex musculoskeletal issues. She loves helping her patients and watching their progress.
Pam has lectured on back pain and many other physical therapy topics to doctors, physical therapists and patients. She has appeared on numerous televised medical news broadcasts including topics on manual therapy techniques, orthopedic issues, avoiding meniscus and back surgery and shoulder rehabilitation.
Pam’s patients come from all walks of life, including physicians, Broadway performers, professional tennis players (including top ranked players from the US open), United Nations employees and diplomats, as well as students, office workers and government employees.
To better treat her patients she continues to regularly participate in educational programs on the most up to date techniques and approaches.
